Our new art show
“Maybe we are all cabinets of wonders.” ? While I’m not sure that’s true of the two of us, Doug and I have noticed many common themes in our artwork. Anyone who visits our home studio agrees that our pieces, grouped together, look as though they were plucked from a very quirky cabinet of curiosities. “Details, Details” workshop

Springtime surprises
It doesn’t happen as often as I’d like, but sometimes my work gets published in a magazine without much effort on my part. Late last year, for instance, I received an unexpected letter and a contract from an editor at Ideals magazine, requesting my permission to reprint an Easter essay from my book, Writing Home. This week, I received my advance copies of Ideals Springtime 2018. My essay in this issue is about a surprise gift (a box of ducklings) that I received one Easter when I was a kid. Compatible weirdness and Halloween honeymoons

We were married on October 24, 1980, and spent our two-week honeymoon driving around New England after the wedding. Not that I had any doubts, but I knew this marriage would last when Doug agreed to stop in Salem, Massachusetts, on Halloween. How many guys would want to tour the creepy…
