Love defined
“Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.” ~ 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Long before the first chocolate truffle was gifted, poets and philosophers have tried to describe the meaning and essence of love. While I’m not in the habit of sprinkling Bible passages in my writings, today’s quote remains one of the best definitions of love I’ve found. It beautifully explains what fuels and sustains an authentic relationship. At the same time, it applies to friendship as well as romance.
I wish you all a happy Valentine’s Day weekend — and I hope you find plenty of opportunities to celebrate the people you care about. Special wishes go out to my dear husband, whose birthday aptly falls on Valentine’s Day. ~CL
