    Small treats every day

“It would add very much to the pleasure of life and to its sanctity if we cultivated the habit of seeing what is beautiful and divine in ordinary things. This is not easy, because our natural tendency is to think and talk most about what is extraordinary.” ~Alfred Rowland Cindy La Ferle _____________________ To view additional content on this blog, please visit the home page of “Things that make me happy.”

    Family fun

“Even when you’re grown up, you should never stop having fun.” ~Nina Dobrev At the North American International Auto Show 2018 Getting fancy is a rare opportunity. On Friday night, our family attended the black-tie Charity Preview for the North American International Auto Show. Our car-loving son and his wife thought it would be fun for all of us to get dressed up for an evening at one of the Motor City’s biggest events. (In this photo, from left: Doug, me, Nate, Andrea, and Andrea’s mom, Matilda.) We all had a wonderful time, starting with champagne and appetizers at Matilda’s house, then admiring scores of new cars and trucks at Cobo Center.

    Meaningful conversation

“We need people in our lives with whom we can be as open as possible. To have real conversations with people may seem like such a simple, obvious suggestion, but it involves courage and risk.”  ~Thomas Moore, Care of the Soul:  A Guide for Cultivating Depth and Sacredness in Everyday Life “Let’s skip the small talk” / Cindy La Ferle _____________________ To view additional content on this blog, please visit the home page of “Things that make me happy.”
