I’m excited to introduce the Self-Help Book Club, a new fall program I’ve created for the Blair Memorial Library in Clawson. This unique book club is designed to help lift our spirits and broaden our perspective while providing practical tools to help us manage the challenges of daily life. Each discussion will focus on the key takeaways of a pre-selected (and highly rated) self-help book.  

Enrollment in the Self-Help Book Club is limited to 12 attendees per meeting, and advance registration is required for each meeting. You’re welcome to attend all three of the book discussions — or choose just one that interests you.

There’s free parking in the Blair Memorial Library parking lot — and you don’t have to be a Clawson resident to register. We kindly ask that you attend only if you’ve read the book to be discussed. Here’s the fall line-up and schedule:

How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply and Being Deeply Seen, by David Brooks
Offering a timely remedy for a society that’s grown hostile and fragmented, this acclaimed best-seller will help you understand others while you become a better conversationalist and thoughtful listener. Author David Brooks borrows from the fields of psychology, philosophy, neuroscience, history, and education to help us discover what drives human relationships.

The Let Them Theory, by Mel Robbins

How to Be Enough: Seven Life-Changing Steps for Self-Critics, Overthinkers, and Perfectionists, by Elle Hendrickson
