An early spring break

It doesn’t happen as often as I’d like, but once in a while my work gets published in a magazine without much effort on my part. Late last year, for instance, I received an unexpected letter and a contract from an editor at Ideals magazine, requesting my permission to reprint a piece from my book, Writing Home.
This week, two advance copies of Ideals Springtime 2018 arrived in the mail — a promising start for my new year. My essay in this issue is about a surprise gift (a box of ducklings) I received one Easter when I was a kid.
Ideals is a soft-bound anthology of stories and poems by a variety of nationally published authors. Owned by Guideposts and known for its wholesome family content, the magazine was launched in 1944 and has published seasonal editions ever since. (Several of my essays from Writing Home have been selected for publication in previous editions.)
The new issue will be available at Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, ChristianBooks.com, Amazon.com, and other retail stores. ~Cindy La Ferle

My mom always loved Ideals. I loved the photos and pictures when I was young and later I bought a couple of copies on my own because they brought back some fun memories.
This is wonderful Cindy! I didn't know that you'd been published in Ideals before. I'll be looking for a copy come spring!

Thank you, Tina — I've been in several Ideals issues, plus in the hardcover Guideposts anthologies. A few years ago, a review copy of my book, Writing Home, made its way to their editorial offices and they contacted me for permission to reprint stories a few times after that. It's been great for me!
