Thanks for inquiring about my workshops. I will keep the e-mail addresses of everyone who’s requested more info on this page, and contact you when the next one comes up. That said, please keep an eye on this “Workshops” section, as I find that sometimes e-mail addresses change or bounce back.

I usually don’t teach during the winter holidays, so watch for news of classes in the spring and fall, when I resume my teaching schedule. And do keep an eye on the catalogs at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Assoc. — Cindy La Ferle

Thank you for writing. I hope you’ll keep an eye on this “Workshops” section. I will be adding new workshops, after the winter holidays.
I will e-mail you with alerts, only with your permission. Also, please watch the catalogs at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center,
as there will be more writing classes offered there in the future.

I hope you’re having a great summer. I just wanted to share with you a great book for writers. I found it at the library, would be great to add to your list for some of us older writers. Its called, “The Book That Changed My Life.” If you haven’t read it it is great.

Wendy, I have a long list of books to recommend -- too long to list here. Just for starters, I suggest Writing and Publishing Personal Essays, by Sheila Bender; Thinking About Memoir, by Abigail Thomas; and Writing from the Heart, by Nancy Slonim Aronie. I also recommend Letters to A Young Poet, by Rainer Maria Rilke for ALL writers.

Are you doing any other personal essay workshops at retreat centers, perhaps? Actually, I live in California and am only here in the summers for 6 weeks but would love to take your BBAA class. Also, what few books do you recommend for someone wanting to get started writing personal essays for publication?
