A Michigan winner

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” — Eleanor Roosevelt

Congrats to my friend Joni Hubred-Golden, publisher of Michigan Women’s Forum. Joni will be among the honorees at the National Organization for Women, Detroit chapter’s Feminist of the Year awards, held on Women’s Equality Day, August 26. Michigan Women’s Forum also won a 2008 Clarion award from the Association for Women in Communications. I’m proud to have a monthly column on women’s midlife issues in Michigan Women’s Forum — and very proud of the work Joni does to promote and support women in my home state. — Cindy La Ferle

Somewhere in the middle

road.jpgJoni Hubred-Golden, editor of the Michigan Women’s Forum online, recently invited me to be a regular columnist on her site.  Titled Middle of the Road, my new monthly column focuses on topics and issues of special interest to women at midlife — everything from facing the empty nest to aging gracefully in a youth-obsessed culture.  The first column was posted last week. As always, I welcome your comments and suggestions! –CL
