THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS OF CREATIVE WRITING (and how to avoid them)

Sloth! Arrogance! Pointless paragraphs! Pompous verbiage! Are you guilty? Good, clean writing is essential, whether you’re trying to craft a blog, an article, or a press release. Throughout my years of teaching writing workshops, I’ve been amazed at how many students could easily get published — if only they’d spend a little more time polishing their work.
In this informal two-hour workshop, I’ll target seven common errors plus additional oversights that stand between you and successful publication. You’ll return home with some basic tools for editing your own work — and impressing your editors. Or, if you’re writing for business, you can apply the tips to newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials. New and experienced writers in all genres are welcome. Optional: Bring a short piece of your own writing that needs work.
